Durango is pursuing a bid for a stage of the Quiznos Pro Tour Challenge to take place across the State of Colorado in 2011. According to the committee, Durango is shooting for the opening stage of the tour, or none at all. Tuesday morning the group will meet with the Quiznos crew and travel the proposed route over to Telluride via Mancos and Dolores. Could be cool. Good luck team.

AliciaRose Pastore is in Canada Now
Alicia is now in Canada to prepare for this weekends World Championships, here is an update,
“Hey guys here is an update from Mont Saint Anne.
After a 8 hour drive in the old volvo Elke and I finally made it to Mont Saint Anne. Sunday night we pulled into our hotel around 8 which was perfect because it gave us a little time to spin out our legs before going to eat some really good pizza at a local restaurant that Elke knew of. It was really cool because when we got there the teams from Brazil and Sweden where there along with a couple Dutch riders, and the girl from Chili that I raced with in Windham.
Yesterday, after having a very lazy morning we headed to the team hotel and settled in there before going to ride the course. The course was the most technical riding I have ever done. The weather here is uncharacteristically hot hot and dry. Therefore the course is very, very dry and loose. there are huge sand pits and around some of the switch backs you sink in super deep. It was really helpful having Elke to ride with. She used a bike from the Luna Team, so she could ride with me.”

DEVO U19 Assistant Coach Brendan Shafer Heads to National Championship
He’s off to the Sante Fe Blue Brass and Oldtime Festival Banjo and Fiddle competition. Wish him luck as he competes in Saturday’s events. Brendan is a local picker and is known locally for his creative style of play and his good looking homemade instruments. Last year Brendan placed second in the Oldtime Banjp competition and is looking for the top spot this weekend. The contestants are asked to play 2 songs by the judges, and are not allowed to speak or be seen during play to allow for a judgment based on technical play alone. Good luck Coach!

Grotts and Pastore Win Coke Triple Crown
1990 World’s 20th Anniversary XC Race Results
Triple Crown Series Overall Points 2010
Thanks to all those who took time to come shred at DMR this summer at the Durango Coca-Cola Triple Crown town race series. We averaged 33 racers for the three events and can only see it growing into the future. DMR is pumped to have us up there and the racers have been pumped on the positive growth with the terrain and the race tracks offered.
In Saturdays final race of the Durango Coca-Cola Triple Crown series, the 20th Anniversary of the 1990 World Championships, DEVO’s Howard Grotts and Director Sarah Tescher raced the new 90 Worlds lap to victory, Howard sealing the deal on the overall points champ and teammate AliciaRose winning the women’s overall. Other winners on the day were Julie Feilen, Devin Feilen, Levi Kurlander and Ed Zink. Zink was the promoter for the 90 Worlds and took the day at DMR to reminisce and race his bike on the rerouted course. He wore a vintage jersey, hat and warm-up flease from the 1990 event and looked super sweet. After the event, he stayed around and fielded questions and dusted off an old program from the race and gifted it to the promoter for the current event, coach Chad. Coach Chad was pumped! All in all, the series was a positive for the Durango community and will be back for 2011. The series profits will be split evenly and donated to Trails 2000, FLC Cycling, the Durango Wheel Club, Bicycle Lemonade, Durango BMX and Durango DEVO.

Kids at Camp
From one of the Jr DEVO Summer Camp coaches,
“John Rocka fell and knock the wind out of himself at camp today.
After he regained the ability to speak,
he asked me if he still had two lungs?
I looked at him curiously, asked him to raise his right hand,
then looked him in the eyes,
“Yes John Rocka you still have both lungs.””
Durango Coca-Cola Triple Crown Cross Country Race
