Taylor Borucki Makes Worlds Team
Durango DEVO U-19 cyclist, Taylor Borucki grabbed a spot on the five man roster to represent the junior category at the Downhill World Championships in Italy later this month. Taylor is currently waiting on the final word from local docs after tweaking his ankle riding trails last sunday. Please send Taylor positive vibes this week as he awaits the verdict. He recently placed third at the NORBA national race in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This season and last, he has accumulated enough points to place him third in the nation in the highly contested junior expert category.

Chris Giles and Bike Geeks
Yo Cyclists, check out this sweet local photo project by Durangoan, Chris Giles.
“I am pleased to introduce you to a small but remarkable group of individuals who truly embrace and portray the essence of a Bike Geek. A Bike Geek is one who has an exceptional love or devotion to their bikes and cycling. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes and are typically full of energy and character. Enjoy my portrait gallery of geeks and their two wheeled friends. And if you know a Bike Geek that would be a candidate for this project, I’d love to hear from you!”

Taylor Borucki 3rd in Angel Fire
Check him out, DEVO’s U-19 downhiller Taylor Borucki placed 3rd in the Chili Challenge Downhill, in Angel Fire, New Mexico. Taylor needed to win to automatically qualify for the US World Championship team. He is currently waiting to hear back from Mark Gullickson, head coach of development for USA Cycling, on his petition to make one of five remaining spots on the junior dh squad. Good luck man!
IHBC Criterium Was Wonderful
Sundays criterium took riders through the downtown streets of Durango and into the record books. Well not really. But the jr DEVO’s in attendance at the kids races in the AM just might have set some records. Director Annie Cheeney who course marshaled for the events said, “they had to split the field and run two heats……the Jr DEVO yellow jerseys were everywhere.” That says good things about the future of cycling in Durango. DEVO’s U-14 racers rode strong in the more competitive junior races with Alicia Rose Pastore dropping her female competitors and catching and dropping the boys field. Dang. The cruiser crit was also filled with DEVO, this race had them looking as goofy as ever. The three unicycling, banjo playing goofball kids ended up taking the trophy for Radness. More results later.
