Locals Only!

The Iron Horse appreciates the support the local community has provided over 41 years. In recognition of that support we are giving locals access to registration a few hours ahead. Last year the IHBC sold out in a matter of days, some race categories within 13 hours! This is a great chance to “get in” early.

The IHBC will be hosting a “Locals Only” registration party Friday November 30th, 2012 5-8pm at Mountain Bike Specialists at 949 Main Ave, Durango. This event will be held only a few short hours before we open registration to the world at midnight, Dec 1.

We will have multiple workstations set up to allow “locals” to stop in and register for the 2013 event to be held May 25-27, 2013. Please bring your credit card because the registration will be done online, and only completed with a credit card. No checks or cash.

Here is the deal: You have to register in person, with a valid ID. You cannot register other people, unless they are under 18(minor). No exceptions. Please do not ask to sign up your spouse, friend, etc… Our liability waiver is part of the registration process and must be electronically signed by the person standing there, who matches the ID.

Beverages, appetizers, and chocolate provided by Bread, Steamworks and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Regular registration opens at Midnight Dec 1, 2012 if you cannot make this event.

Please check out our new website at ironhorsebicycleclassic.com for event details including the fact we are going to time the McDonald’s Citizen Tour (must start with Train at 8:30am to receive course time) and we have made changes to the Road Race categories based on 2012 feedback. Additionally we have new merchandise offerings, our best yet.

We hope to see you November 30th and thank you for the many years of support.

Coach Mint’s end of the season note

Dear Devo,
It is with great dejection that I write you that the U-14 season has ended. It was a good one, thank you for coming out and riding every week. There was impressive progression in many riders (Austin, Jake, Keiran, Andrew, George) and then there was a crew of awesome new devo-ites (Caleb, Jimmy, Andrew, Teddy, Lucius), also there was a contingent of devo professionals who continue to inspire (Keiran, George, Quinn, Perrin, Dylan). I saw improvement from every rider throughout the season and more importantly I saw great examples of you taking care of each other. Take care of other, take care of each other and take care of yourself. The great bear of a man Samuel Johnson said “Man alone is born crying, lives complaining and dies disappointed.” To those that are moving on from U-14 you will be missed, if you need anything, have questions or need literary guidance, you know how to reach me (mint@durangodevo.com or 9707790163). Ride your bikes and smile when you do it because its fun.
Tuesday, the halloween ride, will leave Buckley park at 4pm. Wear a costume and patience because it will be a fun slow ride. Have fun.
Be well, have fun and take care of each other,
Mint
