Elliott 13th in Chile

U-19 DEVO alumni Tad took the pan American championships on last weekend to a 13th place finish and the highest u-23 in the strong international field. It was his first big mtb race of the season, and he has plenty more upcoming. After  domestic packed 2008 race season, 2009 offers up a more international menu. There are too many world cups to remember, but Tad will be there and not so much at the big Colorado races. Good luck Tad. results

Former Durango resident, Chris Van Dine earned the Gold medal is the weekends downhill championships. BooYa.

Top Secret Training Camp Photos

Top Secret Training Camp was so rad. Durango DEVO would like to thank all the people who made this sweet thang possible. First off, Russ Zimmermann of Durango Cyclery took care off all the camp supplies, food, tent, stuff, and even the used groovers! Ulgh. With his trusty sidekick, Bill Pile, those two took care of every meal for 45 coached and campers. Dang! We’d also like to thank the coaches for volunteering their preseason time into fostering the bondage between the athletes. Kricket Lewis, Evan Elliott, Jon Bailey, Scott Shishim, Annie Cheeney, Chad Cheeney, Jess Reed, Daniel Walker and Sarah Tescher were all there shredding with the kids. We aslo had a crew of superstar friends who came out to lend a hand. Lisa Lieb, Greg Herbold, Bicycle Bob Gregorio, Jonathan Reed and Glen Shoemaker made the time to share the love. HB blew minds with his super high-teck rc truck! We’d also like to thank Trails 2000 for the tool usage, Dave Hagen at FLC Cycling for the tent and race course setup stuff, Devin at City Market for the sweet discount, the Burnett family for use of their groovers, Ted’s Party Rental and Bill joiner for the use of his van. Booya that was fun.

To the Top

Do you want to got to the 2009 World Championships in Canberra, Australia?

This is what you must do. The 3 year old DEVO program has had 2 athletes make the US worlds team, Tad Elliott in 2007 on the U-23 xc squad and Taylor Borucki in 2008 on the junior dh squad.

5 Durangoans Named to Pan American Squad

Todd Wells, Heikki Hall, Chris Heath, former resident Chris Van Dine and DEVO alumni Tad Elliott have been selected to the US Pan American race team. March 20-23, the US will bring 20 athletes to Chile to compete for the best of the Americas. Read the story here. Nice work Tad.

Durango Wheel Club Info

The first weekend club rides went off today pretty darn smooth. Two groups rolled out the Valley and finished atop Old Shalona, and after a regroup, rolled back to sprint to the Welcome to Durango sign. This new addition to the DWC weekly lineup looks to be a good idea. Local bike talk show, Cycle Squawk will be hosting DWC’s leader, Spencer Compton this tuesday on 91.9 at 1130 am, or on line at kdur.org. Check out what he has to say. Remember the wednesday Time Trials as well. Check out that stuff here.

As head coach of the Durango DEVO team, I approve of this message.      -Chad Cheeney

Big time news is that the Rabbit Valley Rampage in Fruita has been moved from the weekend of 10-12 to the following weekend of the 17-19th. This is team DEVO’s first team race of the season, and the date change is a good thing as team practice begins March 30th. 2009-race-scedule

The Velo Swap in May has been renamed to the DEVO Bike Swap after the owner of the registered name Velo Swap contacted IHBC promoter Gaige and told him to change it or else. Dang. So we changed it.
