The sunday morning Kids Criterium in downtown Durango is only $5! The kids rock. The action begins at 7am sunday morning and signup is tonight at the fairgrounds from 2-9pm. Devo coaches will be leading out groups and handing out serious high fives. We’ll see you there.

FLC Cycling and Matt Shriver

FLC spring road coach Matt Shriver has been hired as the Head Coach of cycling for the Division 1 collegiate team. Matt graduated from FLC in 2003 after winning national championships for the school in mountain biking and cyclocross. Matt replaces superstar coach Rick Crawford, who led the squad to tons of victories. Shriver has big shoes to fill, but he already wears a size 10.5. Here is the Herald Story.

DWC Criterium on Sunday

This sunday the Durango Wheel Club will hold a practice criterium at Mercy Medical Center. Check out the DWC blog for the categories and times. The club is also running the downtown crit for the IHBC and they need volunteers. If you are interested contact them via the world wide web.

Trails 2000 and DEVO and Shocker Track

This saturday, Durango Devo and Trails 2000 will unite to give some love to an old forgotten track. The Shocker Trail fixers will meet at the Factory Trails saturday morning at 8am and work until 11am. This is the Devos monthly team volunteering effort. Last month Devo moved a storage shed across town with 15 kids a track and trailer, and 7 poles of various size and length.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is Super

Its true, this next weekend is the one of the bestest road race weekends in the states. The classic road race course has people coming from all over to get a chance to shred the sweet cherry asphalt. Also this year is the Quarter Horse, a shortened tour to Durango Mountain Resort. DMR will have a all you can eat Carbo Load on friday night, call 385-2121 for reservations. The crit will be sweet on sunday as usual. Remember that there is a super entertaining kids race in the early am. Devo will be there for sure. 

Oh yes, the DEVO Bike Swap on friday will be a score as usual. Now is a good time to dust off your randoms and make them look sellable. You can make some easy cash, drop off for sellers is thursday from 3-8pm at the Fairgrounds. The Devo Bike Swap will go from 1pm to 9pm on friday before the road race. We’ll see you there at some point.

DEVO Coaches Cruise in Cortez

At last weekends’ 12 Hours of Mesa Verde, Devo coaches Jess Reed, Anne Cheeney, Kricket Lewis, Jon Bailey and Chad Cheeney all placed on the podium in the fun endurance race. U-14 coaches Jess and Annie took the women duo win with a total of 7 laps, with U-19 coach Kricket Lewis and Durangoan, Robin Tiles-Fitzpatrick close behind in second. In the 3-4 man team category, jrDevo coach Jon Bailey along with teammates, Chad Cheeney and Robin Guillaume took a victory as well, taking in 9 laps during the half day. Devo board member Travis Brown was on a 4 person team with fellow Devo supporters Frank and Don Maple, and Ted compton, they too won their category under the team name, Jimbo and the Studs. Tad is Racing Tons

“The race I won was called the Taeler Cup in Wittnau Germany. I think that it would be the equivalent of a Mountain States Cup over here. I have attached some pictures from the race. I told mom this but we had to cook over here and I was put in Charge of shopping and cooking by Marc Gullickson. He said that I was really good at it. My race schedule now is Friday-Sunday Road Stage Race. Fri-Road Stage Sat- Road Stage Sun- Road Stage in the morning then in the Afternoon a 1:30 Circuit race. Next Thursday one day road race. Bicycle Bob's Bike Sale

Bicycle Bob is having a bike sale in the patio behind the Durango Cyclery this saturday from 9am until noon. Bob will be headed back to Casta Rica next week to continue his cycling and wrenching ways for the Pizza Hut race team.
