Tentative 2012 Colorado Mountain Bike Race Calendar

2012 Tentative CO Calendar-1please remember that this is not set in stone.

Andy Bohlmann of Sand Creek Sports Inc. in Colorado Springs has been rad these past 2 years at getting out a Colorado and friends racing calendar each winter. Not too long ago, we all rode around until February/March without knowing what the seasons schedule held. Now, we have Andy, who through reaching out to promoters across the state, has put together this collaborative list that covers the big, the small and even the ugly events that surround us in competitive cycling paradise. Thanks again Andy and keep up the good work. Durango Devo appreciates the scheduling help!

Trials From the Crypt Recap

Thanks to everyone for coming to the Trials from the Crypt on Halloween weekend! We had a great time and everything went very smooth. All of the riders were very supportive of each other and the checkers did a great job. A big thank you to Ateam and Team New Mexico bring 10 riders! That was HUGE and pretty much made the event. So a huge thank you Tony, the Hertrich Clan and Rodney and Randy!

It was nice to have some experienced checkers this year, so thanks to Drew, Anna, Jim, Chris, Paul, Hannigan, and Rodney. Thanks to SRAM Rockshox for hooking up the Lyrik for the raffles. Nice Job to Randy Gibson taking home the fork AGAIN! I’m glad to to see a talented young rider like Randy be able to take that fork to help his riding budget. Thanks also to Steamworks Brewing for the cash and gift certificate prizes. As well as Century 21 for cash prizes as well. Thanks to Durango Brew Supply, Pedal the Peaks, San Juan Cycles, and Durango Devo for helping out as well. A big shout out to Eric Bojan, and DJ Treazon and his homies for bringing the Redbull Sugga sound system vehicle, it added a nice element to the event.

We had a great turnout with 27 riders and plenty of volunteers. The MTB class was a great success again with Stephen Davoust of Durango Devo taking the victory with a score of only one dab all day. MTB rode two laps of 5 sections on the beginner course. Beginner class rode well also doing two laps of 5 sections and same for youth. Pro rode 2 laps of 5 sections with Robbie Pfunder coming through with an excellent score of only 4 dabs, and Max Schulze doing well in his first ever Pro competition, Nathan rode well also and had to battle some mechanical issues throughout the comp. Expert class was a bit tough this year, and good job to the guys sticking it out with 3 rounds of 5 sections! Congrats to Will Haden coming all the way from Kansas to take the win and to Randy for getting his first expert class clean! Those sections were pretty tough! Our largest class this year was Sport which had ten riders and local Cliff Pinto taking the win, he’ll be automatically upgraded to expert for next year. But good job to cliff who hasn’t ridden trials since the Iron Horse in May. Also great job to Gavin taking second, another great up and coming young rider, and to Stewart Pomeroy. I’ve never seen a whoopie cushion doing rear wheel gaps while listening to dub step, but now I have! Can’t wait to see some video and more pictures!

What a fun weekend! Thanks for coming guys, see you all in the Spring! -Ryder O.
