image001Race #2 for the RMCF Devo Sweet Elite was a great success! The team finished 2nd overall in the Co-Ed 3-4 person team category. A little different format for the Sweet Elite riders as none of them had ever done a 12hr race before. The team consisted of four riders this week. Colton Andersen, Sage Wilderman, Alicia Rose Pastore, and Teal Stetson Lee. The team had a blast all day and with the nearly 800 riders at the event, the RMCF chocolate bars were a huge hit for everyone trying to recover between laps. Specialized S-Works Epic 29ers were the machine choice of the day as they posted the fastest laps for both men’s and women’s categories! Both fast laps set by Sweet Elite riders! A special thanks goes out to the legend Ned Overend for sporting the RMCF Sweet Elite Kit for the race. What an honor for the team! Another thanks goes out to the rest of the Durango Devo teams at the race for all of their support and camaraderie at the event.

Colton took first leg of the race which started with a Le Mans style running start.  Crushing it the first lap, which was a bit longer than the regular laps, Colton was the first rider in 30sec ahead of Travis Brown. Unofficially the fastest lap of the day! Colton rode 3 laps total. All within 4 minutes of each other! Wow!

Sage took the reins for lap two. A little worried heading out ahead of legend Dave Wiens, Sage managed to hold off Wiens for nearly 5 miles! Sage posted the fastest women’s lap of the day! Sage had some bad luck on her second lap with two flats. U-19 Devo rider Stephen Davoust saved the day as he stopped to help Sage with a flat even though they were leading the Grommet class!

Alicia Rose the youngest member of the team had two solid laps and keeping the team in contention. Alicia Rose gets the “keeping her cool award” for the day, as she had to bunny hop her Specialized Epic over a very long rattle snake!

Teal took two of the toughest laps of the day. Both seeming to be the hottest parts of the day and with the most traffic. She still rode awesome and kept the team in the standings.

Great day of racing and thanks again to all the sponsors for their great support!

Thanks,

Chris Wherry
