Bike Riding on Grass at Buckley Park

Bummer news. It appears that Buckley Park can no longer be home to local mtb skills clinics, cyclocross races, kids clinics, bike polo, bike lemonade bike maintenance clinics, future Tour de Fats and riding your bike across the park. Does bike riding on grass actually hurt anything in the long run?
